DarkRise was founded by four musicians coming from Lausanne and its outskirts (Switzerland) in 1998. After two years of composition and practice of the stage, they decided to record their first demo. “Slaves Of Death” came out in May 2000, allowing the group to play live with Fleshcrawl and Yattering.
In 2003, the group recorded his first full length album, “Massive Retaliation”, a pure Death Metal album that was released by the French label Deadsun Records.
In 2005, after some concerts abroad, the band recorded his second album. “Unbeliever” was also released by Deadsun Records in 2006 and was directly followed by an European Tour with Impaled Nazarene. This experience enabled the group to progress and become more professional. It was also an opportunity to gain visibility and make some networking throughout Europe. At the end of 2006 and in 2007, DarkRise did perform again in Europe.
In October 2008, DarkRise recorded a full length album at the famous Hertz Studio in Poland. It was a very rewarding experience and the sound of “Built” is simply huge. The great artwork had been realized by Niklas Sundin, Dark Tranquility’s guitar player.
The album was released in October 2009 by the French label Great Dane Records and excellent reviews came from all over Europe. “Built” reached great recognizing from the medias, musicians and fans. During DarkRise’s next shows, the audience did appreciate that the band was able to successfully recreate the power and tightness of the album.
In 2010, DarkRise started a prolific collaboration with Vincent Dévaud (The Best of Underground – TBOU), a booking agent who is in contact with many managers in Europe and events in Switzerland. He allowed the band to share the stage with Fear Factory at the Docks in Lausanne in June 2010.
In 2011, under the aegis of TBOU, DarkRise took part in the European Tour « Those Whom the Gods Detest Tour » with the German thrashers Dew-Scented, the amazing Melechesh and especially the current leaders of the Death Metal U.S. scene: Nile. This tour was organized by Massive Music, one of the most important sponsor in Europe for Extreme Metal. This experience was both musically and humanly rewarding and the feedbacks about stage performances were again very positive.
Shortly back home from tour, the band began to work on a new album and returned to the Hertz Studio in February 2012. For this album, DarkRise worked with drummer Kevin Talley (Misery Index, Dying Fetus, etc…) and the artwork was, again, done by Niklas Sundin.
“Realeyes” was released in January 2013 by the label Great Dane Records and followed by an U.S. tour (From Darkness Arose Immortality Tour). In November of the same year, DarkRise toured with DTA – Death To All European Tour with Obscura in almost twenty European cities.
In 2014, DarkRise began to compose new songs and played shows with Six Feet Under, Morbid Angel, Requiem and more. In 2015, the band went to England at the Parlour Studio to record their new album with famous producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, Evile, etc…). They worked with Björn Goußes from Killustrations for the artwork.DarkRise did once again tour all across Europe in April 2016 to promote their fifth full length album released on March 18th, 2016 by Punishing Records and are already working on new material.
